What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. It can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or socioeconomic status. Abuse is not always physical — it takes many forms.
